About The Artist
Singer-songwriter Paul Brill's latest recording, HARPOONER, along with his original compositions for several award-winning films, TV series and commercials, and two NPR themes show that youthful adventures as an herbal smokes salesman, street performer, valet, corporate errand boy, and even a marine biology instructor can serve the creative spirit well.
Paul’s original score for the film, The Devil Came on Horeseback, was recently nominated for an EMMY AWARD; his score for the celebrated HBO film, The Trials of Darryl Hunt, was also nominated
for an EMMY AWARD and was hailed by Variety as
“memorably chilling, sounding notes of purest dread.” Young American Recordings recently released the Hunt soundtrack, curated by Brill, featuring selections from his score and contributions by Andrew Bird, M. Ward, Califone, The Last Poets and Mark Kozelek among many others.
Paul recently scored the hit film, "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work," which premiered at Sundance 2010 and has since been screening across the nation to outstanding critical and popular acclaim. He also recently scored the film adaptation of the best-selling book, "Freakonomics", and Christy Turlington Burns' debut film, "No Woman, No Cry," which premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.
Brill is currently the composer for the acclaimed A+E television programs “The First 48,” “Steven Seagal: Lawman," and “Runaway Squad." He has completed upcoming films for MTV, History Channel, Discovery Channel, PBS, among others.
In 2004, Paul was awarded First Place in the
International Songwriting Competition.
